Absolutely, but I would make sure you keep the highlights in the warm /gold range. They can look very beautiful on ginger hair if they are very fine and enhance your cut. I usually will go with two or three shades to give it a lot of movement and definition.

it would be up to you. but if you have ginger hair they would have to be reallyyy light, but if it was me i would go darker since you have ginger hair. otherwise darken your hair, and then add the blonde highlights
