get darker now that summer is almost ending, and when it grows out it wont be as noticeable. Lighter highlights look better when it is summer or spring.
both will look good but the best would be some of each! that will give more dimension and depth to your hair. your highlights should be two levels lighter and two levels darker than your hair color now to really look good!
Darker. Darker looks good on a lot of people.
Lighter...Or maybe if you are allowed, both.
